Near the center of Aberdeen, showcasing the beauty of the North Sea, lies Aberdeen Beach, one of the most visited beaches in Scotland. It’s popular in the summer and throughout all seasons, accessible by both land and sea.

Stretching 3.5 kilometers between the mouth of the River Don and Aberdeen Harbour, the beach offers a variety of sports and recreational activities. An art-deco inspired esplanade welcomes locals and visitors alike.

Aberdeen Beach

At Aberdeen Beach, with excellent service providers and play areas, you can sunbathe, stroll on its iconic golden sands, run, bike, listen to the soothing sound of the waves, engage in water sports, and even go whale watching. The strong winds and dynamic waves make it ideal for surfing, windsurfing, and kitesurfing.

Entertainment Hub

Aberdeen is known by its residents as “the silver city with golden sands”. Its strategic location on the North Sea coast provides numerous attractions, including Aberdeen Beach, a natural refuge of great beauty and splendor.

The water temperature is low, even on sunny days, making it not always suitable for swimming. However, there are plenty of other activities to enjoy on the promenade, at the dance hall, the Beach Leisure Centre, or the Linx Ice Arena. All these places are equipped with cafes and restaurants offering the best of local and international cuisine.

Next to the Beach Leisure Centre is Codona’s Amusement Park, featuring roller coasters, rides, simulators, and themed restaurants.

Aberdeen Beach also boasts shopping areas, a cinema, and other entertainment centers. If your visit extends, there are fantastic accommodation options from the harbour to the city center.

Eccentric and Culturally Rich

Next to Aberdeen Beach is Footdee, also called Fittie, an old fishing village dating back to the 19th century. It’s an eccentric place of cultural interest, accessible via the promenade. Its picturesque houses were built and inhabited by fishermen who worked in Aberdeen Harbour.

Natural Refuge

The North Sea is the natural habitat of whales, dolphins, porpoises, sharks, and seabirds. Some of these species can be seen near the coast of Aberdeen, either from the shore or on boat trips.

Aberdeen Beach is a dream destination for bird watchers, photographers, and landscape artists, especially when the rare puffins, small, beautiful, and swift cold-water coastal birds, make an appearance.
